$$New $$York $$Yankee$$ Mega Stars Underachieved

Memo to the arrogant and obnoxious New York Yankee yahoos

How can you be proud of a team of overpriced all-stars?

For the amount of money, over $200 million at last tally and rising, your team has only won 80 games.

Don't forget that your lineup is comprised by the likes of Jeter, Damon, A-Rod, Abreu, Giambi, Posada, Cabrera, Cano, Matsui, and Sheffield and they SHOULD be the best in baseball.

Through Sept.2, your overpriced All-Stars have managed to win 80 games.

A small market team such as the Minnesota Twins have won 78 games and have a better team batting avg. (.285 vs. .283) a better team ERA (4.10 vs. 4.39) and a better fielding percentage (.986 vs. .982).

The Minnesota Twins are accomplishing all this with a meager team payroll of $63 million.

The Twins aren't blessed with MEGA stars but have such players as Mauer, Morneau, Hunter, Punto, Cuddyer, Tyner, Rodriguez, Castillo and Bartlett.

How can any one on the Yankees ever be considered for one of the post season awards? I have a lot of respect for Joe Torre, but how could he ever be considered for Manager of the Year. Any time he loses a player he can bank on Papa George to open his wallet and bring in another star.

How can Derek Jeter ever be considered as an MVP candidate? With Damon in front and A-Rod and Giambi batting behind him, he should have better numbers than he has.

Do the math YAHOOS and you'll see that for $200 million a year you should be winning at least 20 more games than a team such as the Twins.

Hey, listen to this - if you get off your high horses you might find that the Florida Marlins with a team payroll of slightly over $14 million are contending for a wild card spot in the National League.

I would love to see these two teams match up in the post season. The shameful rich against the sisters of the poor. Dontrell Willis against Randy Johnson would be nice to see.

Hey YAHOOS, if your team doesn't win it all this year, maybe Papa George can go and spend $300 million next year.
