As I read another story on the fifteen year long Big Dig Debacle, I'm reminded of the words RESPONSIBILITY and CULPABILITY.
Why is it that no one takes responsibility for their actions any more and furthermore why is it that when we do find that someone has knowingly screwed up and hurt others that we let them off scott free, or better yet we reward them?
There are three people who come to mind who have gotten away with doing horrible things and each time I think of them my stomach starts to turn and my blood starts to boil.
Osama Bin Laden - why is it that we can't seem to be able to find this guy? How does a tall gangly sickly man who has to undergo dialysis treatments fly under our great radar screen called the CIA? Sometimes I wonder if he really exists or maybe he's the Boogey man that Dick Cheney created.
Cardinal Law - the man who knowingly shuffled pedophile priests from on parish to another hoping that they would somehow disappear only to have more innocent young boys scarred physically and mentally for life. Why wasn't he made to answer for his disgraceful actions? Why was he rewarded with a much better position in Rome?
Matt Amorello - a man who was partly responsible for the death of an innocent lady who all she wanted to do is get to the airport to meet some arriving family members.
Why was he allowed to resign with exorbitant retirement benefits payed by each and every taxpayer in this state? He saluted us by giving us the middle finger as he walked out the door unscathed.
These three men have cost us dearly and we will continue to pay well into the remainder of this century for their actions. We should be ashamed of ourselves for sitting idly by and letting them get away with MURDER.
