When is a flip-flop not a flip-flop?

Mitt Romney yesterday called his onetime support for abortion rights his greatest personal and political mistake, and sought to reassure voters during a Republican presidential debate that he is a reliable and determined foe of abortion, an issue important to the party's religious conservatives.

Wouldn't you consider this a flip-flop? And why is no one taking him to task for flip-flopping, just like Mr. Kerry was during his run for president four years ago?

Mr. Romney we had one woman in my opinion "murdered" while traveling through the biggest construction fiasco in Massachusetts' history. This incident came under your watch and you should be held responsible for not having the stones to oust Mr. Amorello.

You see you have made more than one great personal and political mistake. Based on your track record as the governor of Massachusetts, I would never vote for you for president. You have lost all credibility with many in this state. Keep wetting your finger and sticking it up in the air to see which way you should lean.

I watch the debates just to see how you and that other "great" man, Rudy Giuliani, flip-flop on the abortion issue.

Hey Rudy, when are going to stop flip-flopping on wives? I thought Teresa was a sweetheart, but I can't wait to see Judith reveal her true side on your campaign trail. Who's running for office you or her?

Flip flop, flip flopping along with the Republicans.
