Is Boston the Hub Anymore?

When I was in school, I learned that Boston was called the "Hub of the Universe." Today I often wonder what happened to the HUB that I read about.

I remember a skyline whereby the Custom House was the tallest and also one of only a handful of tall buildings.

We've had a city that was run by predominantely Irish politicians that have been recently replaced by Italian politicians. I was too naive in thinking that these Marios come lately would be different. Boy was I WRONG! They are all big wind bags who only care about themselves.

Boston is no longer the Hub, rather it has become the laughing stock of the nation and soon the world. It has the dubious distinction of being the most expensive city to live in. We have some of the best colleges and universities yet our leaders won't tap this enormous wealth of knowledge to help in solving some of the problems.

With MIT in it's backyard, why didn't anyone have the foresight of involving these future genious engineers to help in solving the problems with the BID DIG, aptly named the BIG SHAFT. Did anyone ever think of hiring them as interns?

For the most part the skyline and many parts of the city make a nice picture. Yes the city on the exterior looks very appealing but it is rotting from the inside out.

The other thing that's not apparent to the naked eye especially if one lives in the North End, Charlestown, West Roxbury, the Back Bay, Beacon Hill and a few other affluent neighborhoods, is the number of worms (violence and homicides in the core areas) that are destroying the city from the inside out.

Take a bite of the apple that is Boston and you will soon find out how rotten the polished fruit has become.

The taxpayers' money is funding exorbitant pensions for corrupt politicians that are led by Billy Bulger and now we are going to subsidize the pension for Matt Amorello who has failed to do his job at the Turnipke Authority.

One of our mayor's favorite sayings is "Give us the tools, and we'll do the job." I wonder what kind of tools he's looking for. The way my real estate taxes have escalated over the last five years I think that someone has given him burglar's tools.

It's no wonder that we've had a population decline in the last few years.
