“Cheating now equals about 7 cents out of each dollar paid by honest taxpayers, as much as $70 billion a year, the report estimated.”
This amount quoted from a report distributed by the Center for Public Integrity is probably only the tip of the iceberg as far as the amount of money that people steal each year from the government.
I’m tired of billionaires and multi-millionaires getting away from not paying their fair share. Among the billionaires cited in the report are the owner of the New York Jets football team, Robert Wood Johnson IV; the producer of the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” children’s show, Haim Saban; and two Texas businessmen, Charles and Sam Wyly.
When interviewed they all blamed their lawyers and/or tax and financial advisers.
Why does the IRS spend so much money going after the paltry sum that I make and yet close their eyes to the billions that they are being cheated out of?
It’s time to think of another equitable and fair way to collect what’s owed than the present system. The middle classes' backs have been broken from carrying all these wealthy cheaters.
