How Much Time

As I look at the picture on the left of a town clock in the tsunami-devastated city of Kesennuma, Miyagi prefecture, northen Japan, I think of the meaning of time. Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really know how much time........one has left?
For the many in this village and surrounding villages time was not on their side on 3/11/11. Fifteen minutes was all they had from the time (2:46 PM) when one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded (9.0) hit to the time (3:01 PM) when the second and knock out punch in the form of a tsunami came destroying everything in it's path.

As I look at the stunned faces of the survivors the lyrics to the song, "Time Has Come Today" echoes in my mind; "Oh, The rules have changed today (Hey)"

Their eyes tell you how they feel; "I have no place to stay (Hey)"  
And and as they come to grips with reality; "My tears have come and gone (Hey)"

There are things to realize (Time)
Time has come today (Time)
Time has come today (Time)
Life expectancy statistics have no relevance when it comes to natural disasters. I wonder how many went before their time.

And then I go back and hear the question that the group Chicago asked;

Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?

Oh, we seem to have enough time to criticize, politicize, militarize, demonize and yes even ostracize
leaving no time for compromise and harmonize.
