Happy Holiday from the HACKS

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Revenue has just given all Boston property tax owners an early Christmas gift in the form of a Revaluation Assessment Notice. With real estate prices dropping they have the gall of using the market data as of January 1, 2006. Talk about being opportunistic. Where are they when real estate prices fall?

Anytime there’s a revaluation, I can expect to shell out an additional $300 - $400 more per year. I guess I must pay for all the raises the pols voted themselves earlier in the year. They tell me that I can appeal the new assessment. The last time I appealed I got no satisfaction.

This increase is the icing on the cake. The cake of increases is made up of the following ingredients:

MBTA fare hike in 2007
Higher natural gas prices
Higher electricity charges
Higher water prices

Add this to the ever increasing insurance rates, fees for various services et al, and they wonder why people leave this corrupt state.

I’m tired of dishing out money to the fiscally irresponsible solons that have been put in charge. They are hardly in session as can be seen by the picture above. It’s time to fumigate both City Hall and the State House of all the political HACKS - not rats.
