Newbury Street Retailers Get Additional Police Presence

I’m disgusted at how once again I read in both of Boston’s daily papers the so called leaders of this city have immediately responded to a rash of break ins in what they call the city’s tony Newbury Street shopping district. It didn’t take long to increase police presence in this area.

How long have they sat on their fat and overpaid derrières before they decided to put a few additional cops in the Roxbury-Dorchester area? Once again they have proven that people with money get all the services and attention.

The city must keep the tony and posh Newbury Street area squeaky clean. The lives of the unwanted are not worth the time, money and resources needed to solve and abate the violence. This is the message that’s being sent.

Where are our City Councilors?

A story in the Globe says that they are considering a $195,000 hike in the budget that way they can give raises to their staff members. How nice and considerate of them to spend the taxpayers hard earned money at will. I love the use of the word considering in the story - read between the lines and it means that it’s a done deal.

Why didn’t they consider putting the $195K toward the hiring two additional cops? Where are these freeloaders when they are needed? You only see them show up at fundraisers or anywhere they can get a free meal. You grease their palms often enough and they will do you a favor.

You see they only perform their tricks when they know there is a reward. The Newbury Street retailers can afford to reward them whereas the poor of Dorchester and Roxbury cannot.

They forget that they represent ALL peoples in the city.

I agree. The poor and/or minority communities are always treated the worst.
