February 19, 2007 and from Iraq we learn that;
-two U.S. soldiers were killed and 17 wounded,
-car bombings and other attacks claimed at least 34 Iraqi lives in Baghdad and elsewhere
-And that a Marine was killed Saturday and an Army soldier died Sunday while fighting in the Anbar province.
This is a fairly light day for casualties from terrorist attacks compared to numbers that have been reported over the past few weeks.
But back home, life goes on without as much as a whimper about the lives that are being lost to the senseless violence on a daily basis. It’s almost if these lives don’t count to anyone except the deceased’s immediately family. It’s almost as if we lost a bunch of ants, or roaches. Big deal there’s plenty more to replace them.
On a day where a Marine pilot, the first service woman killed from Massachusetts, was being buried in Swampscott, many people were wrapped up in the following nonsensical stories;
N.E. Quarterback Tom Brady’s ex-girl friend is pregnant
Britney Spear’s shaved head
The unending coverage of Anna Nicole Smith’s death and assorted sundries.
The furor over an untested pitcher from Japan.
America you should be ashamed of yourselves - once again you’ve proven that your heads are between your legs. Wake up and you will see that you are being flushed down the media toilet.
Start paying attention to what your elected officials are doing. We are in this mess because the majority didn’t know who they were voting for. They were too busy concerned with the lives of their darling celebrities.
