The Don Imus fiasco has washed ashore so much hipocrisy that there'll be a red tide alert from now until election day.
I never saw so many rats stick their heads out of their holes. Where have they been up until now? I don't condone the remarks made by Mr. Imus, but is this the first time that he went over the line? Where have all these self appointed holier than thou "reverends" been for the last five to ten years?
I never knew anything nor did I care to know anything about the woman's Rutger's basketball team - sorry I'm not into woman's B ball for that matter I cannot stand to watch today's basketball games because some of the hoods that have infiltrated the game and have been promoted as so called stars are horrific role models. Sorry, but I miss the likes of Michael Jordan et al.
Mr. Imus', hip-hop, rap related slur, did more to raise the national awareness of the Rutgers team than all the combined sports related journals could ever have done. These group of young women had more exposure to the limelight than the 12th place finisher on American Idol.
Apologies even though accepted by the people that were offended did nothing to save the jobs of all that worked on the Imus Show.
Why was he canned by two media outlets? Some said because he was a racist. Was that the real reason?
I don't think so. I think Mr. Imus had gotten under the skin of too many people in high places who were being exposed for not doing their jobs. He got in trouble because of his stand on the possible cause of the high rate of Autism in children. Proctor & Gamble felt pressured by his wife's involvement with eliminating toxic cleaners from the environment. The current administration got tired of his constant rants against the hypocrisy of supporting our troops.
Bottom line is the time was right to remove him from the airwaves not because of some derogatory term but because of the fear that many have of his show's input into the next Presidential election.
As far as the two so called "reverends" go, well they needed to jump on a bandwagon that would give them some exposure. It wasn't Al and Jesse that got Imus fired. Just wait a few months and you'll see the players that were involved (the rats that came out of their holes for this brief moment).
