As each day comes to an end
I can't help but to think of them.
They are just starting their day
In Iraq and Afghanistan, so far away
From their loved ones who worry
About their well being as they scurry
In pursuit of Al Sadr and Zarqawi.
As I think of the 140,000 strong
I keep asking, why are you there, what went wrong?
Bush and Company's big production
Was built around "Weapons of Mass Destruction."
Well all the hoopla about WMDs
Was all made up by one named Chalabi
Duping so many including the smart one, Cheney.
No Osama, no WMDs
What's Bush next excuse going to be?
Appearing with Rumsfeld at his side
Now Iraq was going to be democratized.
Jubilation abound, throughout Baghdad town.
Who could ever forget that historical sound?
Made, when Saddam's statue came tumbling down.
A man named Rove planned the next political coup
He would don Mr. Bush in his aviator's suit
Oh, the scene of our President on a destroyer landing
Amidst the backdrop of a "Mission Accomplished" bunting.
Would later prove to be a 'miscalculation'
Of the fight and determination
That was shown by this terrorist nation.
The byproduct of this intelligence error
Was witnessed by only a few, at Dover
The country was forbidden to see
The bodies of the dead coming via Germany
You see we weren't supposed to grieve
We we're rendered stupid or naive
What about the hundreds at delapitated Walter Reed?
The troops are to be commended for what they do
For being resolute through and through
Thanks for fighting to keep our nation free
Even with a strategy I don't agree
You are worth many tons of gold
We are with you, don't feel alone
We pray for your safe and speedy return home.
